Idaho Court of Appeals Judge David Gratton will again take over as the chief judge on the Court of Appeals.
Gratton is the longest-serving of the current judges on the Court of Appeals, and this is his fourth time presiding as chief judge.
A chief judge is selected every two years by Chief Justice G. Richard Bevan. Bevan appointed Gratton to the new term in an order signed on Dec. 1, and Gratton’s term will begin Jan. 1.
Gratton succeeds Chief Judge Jessica Lorello, who remains on the court.
“The Court of Appeals consists of four judges who, in panels of three, hear appellate cases from Idaho’s trial courts as assigned by the Idaho Supreme Court,” according to the court’s press release Monday. “The chief judge presides over the Court of Appeals and oversees its administration.”
Idaho Gov. Butch Otter first appointed Gratton to the court in 2009.
“Judge Gratton is a long-tenured jurist in Idaho and an outstanding leader. His deep experience on the Court of Appeals will continue to be a boon,” Bevan said through a press release Monday. “I look forward to working with him more closely.”
