We touched base with House Speaker Scott Bedke and Majority Leader Mike Moyle after the Senate killed their massive tax proposal on Tuesday afternoon with no debate.
What we learned: Bedke said no transportation if the Senate won’t consider doing something for economic development, and Moyle said the House won’t pass anything else until the Senate sends them a proposal.
We’ll see what that proposal looks like soon. The Senate sent the tax bill back to committee without any debate, and the committee had little discussion before voting, meaning we don’t know what part of the bill they took exception to.
Bedke said they’re meeting with Senate leadership on Wednesday morning.
As for their mood after the Senate tanked their proposal? Both Bedke and Moyle were grinning when they talked to us. There’s time for more fun this session.
